Busy times mean quiet blog, but I have just managed to sneak in a quick post between friends! So what's keeping us occupied?
At the moment we have the pleasure of working at Sutton Women's Centre, Oaks Way Community Centre, the Royal Marsden School Room and St Helier Hospital on their Dementia wards. We must say we are very impressed by the support offered to patients and users at all these venues, but particularly by the staff of the Dementia wards who have taken it on themselves to run weekly group creative/singing/games sessions with their patients. Luckily for them the two wards each have a big room that they use for these group activities.
Our input includes dance, felting, clay work (to create a ceramic mural for the Sutton Women's Centre) and making new work for display in St Helier Hospital., unfortunately kiln firings have come to halt as one of the electrical heating coils has burned right through, thankfully we have a couple of spares!
Most of this work has been sponsored by the National Lottery Fund, we must also thank The D'Oyly Carte Charitable Trust for funding our work at the Royal Marsden, the trust was set up by Dame Bridget D'Oyly Carte (1908-1985) for whom we pray that her soul receives the blessings of the good work we are able to do in her name, and we are happy to say that we have 100% positive feedback from all our participants!
